Dr. Houpt grew up in Memphis, TN, but she completed her Bachelors of the Arts and Sciences in Biology at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She then completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Go Dawgs! After school, she completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Rotating Internship at Mississippi State before deciding she wanted to return home to Chattanooga to join Riverview Animal Hospital.
Dr. Houpt is Fear-Free certified, and has special interest in internal medicine, emergency medicine, and senior care amongst many others. Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is serving her patients and forming lasting connections with her patients and clients. In her free time, she loves exploring new restaurants, hiking, working out, making candles, and collecting vinyl records. Dr. Houpt is bringing four furry friends with her to Chattanooga! She has three golden retrievers, Freddie, Elliot, and Stevie, and one menace of a cat, Kevin.
